Inspirational Quotes by Bainbridge Colby (American Politician)

Bainbridge Colby (1869–1950) was an American politician and attorney who served as President Woodrow Wilson’s last Secretary of State 1920–21. He promoted a ‘Good Neighbor’ policy for Latin America and denounced the communist regime in Russia.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Colby attended Williams College, Columbia Law School, and New York Law School. He was admitted to the New York bar, where Mark Twain was a client. Colby served as a member of the New York State Assembly.

Colby helped found the National Progressive Party in 1912. He ran for various offices as that party’s candidate but never won. After leaving office as secretary of state, Colby returned to his law practice.
