Inspirational Quotes by Cary Grant (British-American Film Actor)

Cary Grant (1904–86,) originally Alexander Archibald Leach, was a British-born American film actor. A Hollywood legend, he acted in more than seventy films over forty years and became the enduring epitome of grace, wit, and sophistication.

Born in Bristol, England, Grant worked as an acrobat and juggler, before moving to the USA in 1920 to take up a stage career. He went to Hollywood in 1928 and made his film début in This Is the Night (1932.) He then played romantic leads in such films as Bringing Up Baby (1938,) His Girl Friday (1940,) and Arsenic and Old Lace (1944.)

Grant is noted for his roles in Alfred Hitchcock’s thrillers, including Suspicion (1941,) Notorious (1946,) To Catch a Thief (1955,) and North by Northwest (1959.)

Grant’s screen career extended into the 1960s, when he appeared in such films as the romantic farce That Touch of Mink (1962) with Doris Day and the escapade Charade (1963) with Audrey Hepburn. After Walk Don’t Run (1966,) he lost interest in filmmaking following a divorce and child-custody battle.
