Jacqueline Briskin (1927–2014,) née Orgell, was a British-born American writer specializing in historical fiction 1970–95. Her novels were translated into 26 languages and sold 23,000,000 copies worldwide.

Born in London, Briskin immigrated to the United States, settling in Beverly Hills, California. She enrolled at the University of California-Los Angeles. She quit after two years to marry Bert Briskin, who later became her literary agent.

Briskin published 12 novels under her name and two under the nom de plume Diane Du Pont. Her sprawling, family sagas—usually featuring the trials and travails of the wealthy and powerful—include California Generation (1970,) Rich Friends (1976,) Paloverde (1978,) Too Much Too Soon (1985,) Dreams are Not Enough (1987,) The Other Side of Love (1991,) and The Crimson Palace (1995.)
