Inspirational Quotes by Letty Cottin Pogrebin (American Writer)

Loretta “Letty” Cottin Pogrebin (b.1939) is an American feminist journalist and social activist. She is the author of numerous books and magazine articles on women and employment, feminism, the psychology and sociology of child-rearing, women in politics, and the role of the women in the family.

Born in Queens, New York, Pogrebin grew up in a religious Jewish family. After attending Brandeis University, she worked in publishing for ten years before joining the women’s movement.

In 1971, Pogrebin founded the liberal feminist magazine Ms. and the National Women’s Political Caucus with Gloria Steinem and other social activists. She also wrote “The Working Woman” column 1970–80 for The Ladies Home Journal.

Pogrebin is the author of several books on the subjects of women in business and non-sexist child-rearing. Her notable works include How to Make It in a Man’s World (1970,) Among Friends: Who We Like, Why We Like Them, and What We Do with Them (1986,) Deborah, Golda, and Me: Being Female and Jewish in America (1991,) and the novel Three Daughters (2003.)

Pogrebin was profiled in the documentary film Makers: Women Who Make America (2013.)
