Inspirational Quotes by Roger Moore (English Actor)

Sir Roger George Moore (1927–2017) was an English actor best known for his sophisticated portrayal of Ian Fleming’s secret-service agent James Bond in seven of the series’s feature films, including Live and Let Die (1973) and The Spy Who Loved Me (1977.)

Born in London, Moore studied painting before making his film début as an extra in Perfect Strangers (1945.) He appeared in small roles on stage and in films before National Service in the army. Moving to the USA, he appeared on Broadway in A Pin to See the Peepshow (1953) and in the Hollywood film The Last Time I Saw Paris (1954.) On television, his boyish good looks, smooth manner, and athletic prowess won him stardom as the action-man hero of such series as Ivanhoe (1957,) The Alaskans (1959–60,) The Persuaders (1971–72) and most particularly, The Saint (1962–68.)

Often cited the most definitive Bond, Moore brought a casual manner to the role of James Bond in seven films between Live and Let Die (1973) and A View to a Kill (1985.) Outside the Bond series, Moore rarely deviated from action films, appearing in quick succession in Escape to Athena (1979,) North Sea Hijack (1980,) and The Sea Wolves (1980.)

Moore devoted much of his time to being a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He was a long-time supporter of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and protested the production and wholesale of foie gras. Moore’s autobiography is My Word is My Bond (2008.)
