Inspirational Quotes by Elvis Presley (American Musician)

Elvis Aaron Presley (1935–77) was an American rock-and-roll and pop singer, guitarist, and pop-culture icon. This “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” was the most successful of the mid-1950s artists who were identified with this new genre. He profoundly changed popular music with his synthesis of country music and rhythm and blues.

Born in East Tupelo, Mississippi, to a poverty-stricken family, Presley worked as a truck driver when he published his early records, which become hits on the country charts. By 1956, he rose to become a national figure as rock-and-roll’s first superstar.

Presley’s songs, such as “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Blue Suede Shoes” (both 1956,) attracted a worldwide following. His on-stage gyrations bewildered audiences—his pelvic thrusts enchanted adolescents and furious parents. Within months of his first wide-ranging recording success, Presley began making such films as King Creole (1958.)

Presley remained the world’s biggest pop star until he died of an accidental overdose of drugs. By then, he had sold more than 500 million records. His vast record catalog—comprising blues, rockabilly, country, gospel, rock and roll—is unrivaled.
