Inspirational Quotes by Dan Quisenberry (American Baseball Player)

Dan Quisenberry (1953–98,) fully Daniel Raymond Quisenberry, was an American baseball player. Known for his humorous quotes and submarine-style pitches, he was a star reliever for the Kansas City Royals.

Born in Santa Monica, California, Quisenberry played baseball at Costa Mesa High School and graduated in 1971. He then attended Orange Coast College and then onto Division III University of La Verne in La Verne, California. He signed with the Royals as an amateur free agent in 1975 and made his major league début with the Kansas City Royals in 1979.

During a 12-year American League career, mainly with the Kansas City Royals, Quisenberry had 244 saves, was a five-time American League saves leader (1980, 1982–85,) and helped the Royals win two American League pennants and a World Series title in 1985.

After retirement from baseball, Quisenberry became a poet, publishing a volume of poetry, On Days Like This (1998.) He was one of baseball’s most quotable characters, with bon mots like “I found a delivery in my flaw” and “I’ve seen the future, and it’s much like the present, only longer.”
