Inspirational Quotes by Warren W. Wiersbe (American Pastor, Biblical Scholar)

Warren Wendel Wiersbe (1929–2019) was an American pastor, biblical scholar, and writer of popular Christian literature and theological works.

Born in East Chicago, Indiana, Wiersbe was inspired by evangelist Billy Graham to become a preacher. After graduating from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois, and becoming ordained, Wiersbe served Central Baptist Church in Lombard, Illinois, beginning in 1951. He later worked for Youth for Christ International, served at Calvary Baptist Church in Covington, Kentucky, 1961–71, and Moody Memorial Church, Chicago, 1971–78.

Wiersbe taught theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School 1978–81 and at Back to the Bible Radio Ministries 1981–90. He also served as a distinguished professor of preaching at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary 1995–2007.

Referred to as “the pastor’s pastor,” Wiersbe wrote over 150 books and Bible commentaries. His popular “Be” series of expositional commentaries covered the entire New Testament and most of the Old Testament. The set included Be Real (1972,) Be Joyful (1974,) Be Rich (1976,) Be Mature (1978,) Be What You Are (1988,) and Be Obedient (2001.)

Wiersbe’s other theological works included Victorious Christians You Should Know (1984) and On Being a Servant of God (1993.) His autobiography is Be Myself: The Autobiography of a Bridge Builder (1997.)
