Inspirational Quotes by Tony Buzan (British Writer, Educational Consultant)

Anthony Peter “Tony” Buzan (1942–2019) was an English author and educational consultant best known as the progenitor of “mind mapping,” a popular learning and memory tool used to organize thoughts, generate ideas, and define goals.

Born in London, Buzan received double Honours in psychology, English, mathematics, and the General Sciences from the University of British Columbia in 1964.

Buzan systematized an idea of mental literacy and a thinking technique called “mind mapping.” This method was inspired by techniques used by Leonardo da Vinci, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, and Joseph D. Novak’s “concept mapping” methods.

Buzan’s other works on mnemonic systems, memorization methods, and mind-mapping techniques include Use Your Head (1974,) Speed Memory (1977,) Make the Most of Your Mind (1984,) Speed Reading (1971,) and The Mind Map Book (1993.)

The best results are achieved by using the right amount of effort in the right place at the right time. And this right amount is usually less than we think we need. In other words, the less unnecessary effort you put into learning, the more successful you’ll be… the key to faster learning is to use appropriate effort. Greater effort can exacerbate faulty patterns of action. Doing the wrong thing with more intensity rarely improves the situation. Learning something new often requires us to unlearn something old.
